Procedure

Connecting a single zone controller

You can connect a single zone controller (ControlCenter CC-1) to a PowerShare amplifier using a CAT 5 cable with maximum length of 609 meters (2000 feet). The cable must be terminated on both ends with an RJ-45 connection using TIA/EIA 568B pinout. This ControlCenter CC-1 can be configured to control the volume on output 1, 2 or 1 and 2 on the PS602. For the PowerShare PS604, PS604A or PS404A a single ControlCenter CC-1 can control the volume of output 1, 2, 3 and 4 or any combination of the 4 outputs.

Connecting multiple zone controllers

All relevant products allow adjacent zone controllers (ControlCenter CC-1) to be ganged together directly. Each zone controller can be independently configured to control any output or combination of outputs. Use a CAT 5 cable with RJ-45 connectors using TIA/EIA 568B pinout to connect zone controllers (ControlCenter CC-1) to each other, then create a single home run from the last zone controller in the chain back to the amplifier. The maximum total cable length (from the first zone controller to the amplifier) is 609 meters (2000 feet). A special accessory (ControlCenter CV41) is available to connect up to four ControlCenter CC-1 controllers in a star topology. In total, you can connect up to two ControlCenter CC-1 controllers to a PowerShare PS602 and four ControlCenter CC-1 controllers to a PowerShare PS604, PS604A and PS404A amplifier.

Setting DIP switches

A ControlCenter CC-1 has a total of eight DIP switches. From the first four DIP switches, only DIP 3 is set in the ON position. The remaining four DIP switches (5-8) can be set to the ON position depending on the amplifier channel(s) that need a remote volume control by that specific CC-1.

Default setting for DIP switches 1-4:

DIP 1 - OFF

DIP 2 - OFF

DIP 3 - ON

DIP 4 - OFF

For the PowerShare PS602, PS604, PS604A and PS404A amplifiers, the ControlCenter CC-1 controls any outputs with corresponding DIP switches in the ON position:

DIP 5 - OUTPUT 1

DIP 6 - OUTPUT 2

DIP 7 - OUTPUT 3 (only PowerShare PS604, PS604A, PS404A)

DIP 8 - OUTPUT 4 (only PowerShare PS604, PS604A, PS404A)

As an example, you can find below a chart overview and a visual overview on how to set the DIP switches if we would use four ControlCenter CC-1 remotes to control the volume of each individual amplifier output from a PowerShare PS604, PS604A or PS404A amplifier.
