Wiring

  1. Connect the network cable to the RS-485 A/B pins on the ESP or EX processor. Note which wire is connected to A and B.
  2. Connect the network cable to the ControlSpace CC-16 terminal blocks. Ensure the wire connected to “A” on the ESP or EX processor is the same one connected to “A” on the controllers and that the “B-wire” is connected to “B” on the controllers.
  3. Connect the power supply to the Ground and Vin+ terminals on the controllers. (Note: the power supply is sold separately and the CC-16 zone controller requires a minimum of 100mA at 8VDC.)

General Tips for Wiring

  1. CAT5/6 is recommended for wiring. Do not use microphone cable, due to capacitance over long runs.
  2. Do not mix "star wiring" with "daisy-chaining". Daisy-chaining is preferred.
  3. If the CC-16s are daisy chained, the last one in the line should have the termination switches set to ON (A and B)
  4. If the CC-16s are in a "star wiring" configuration, terminate the two with the longest cable runs.

Troubleshooting note

If "Comm Failure" shows up on all displays, try wiring a jumper from the voltage ground to the shield terminals at the farthest end of a chain, or the longest 2 runs in a star configuration.
